This is tragic. According to the Eastern Arizona Courier, a 7-year-old boy died last Friday in Safford, Arizona after falling into a septic tank at a mobile home park. He was apparently playing near the open tank and fell in. The large board that had been covering the tank had been removed for some reason. A sheriff’s deputy and two firefighters heroically entered the tank and were able to retrieved the boy, but it was too late.
I really hate to see something like this happen when it could have been so easily prevented. As the father of a young boy myself, I can’t imagine what this boys parents must be going through right now. My heart goes out to them. Even though it’s probably the last thing on their mind right now, I hope that they eventually explore the possibility of legal action.
